Ring groups are here!
COVID-19 has changed work – perhaps forever. Organizations of all shapes and sizes were forced to abandon their phone systems at the office and make do with other options like personal cell phones. Avia, Surtel, Shortel, Nortel, Samsung, Polycom, Cisco … you name it. These legacy systems were built for a world that no longer exists – and really hasn’t existed for a while.
These days Ext. 1 may be in New York while Ext. 2 is in Los Angeles. The more extensions your company might have, the more awkward or confusing it could become. Google Voice is an affordable, easy-to-use business telephone solution that organizations of any size can add on to their G Suite account. And now that ring groups are available, Google Voice is an excellent option for even more organizations.
Ring groups overview
With ring groups, multiple people in your organization can make and receive calls from the same Google Voice number. This feature was previously available in beta and is now generally available.
Admins can customize several aspects of ring groups, including:
- Simultaneous or random order call routing
- Who in the ring group can make outbound calls and use the ring group number(s) as caller ID
- What happens to unanswered calls
- Ring group business hours
Check out the Help Center for more information on configuring ring groups.
