Consultative Transfer and Blind Transfer with RingCentral


Transfer Types

There are two types of call transfers.

Consultative transfer

RingCentral will show your Caller ID to the transfer recipient. This is handy if you want to give the person a heads up or ask if they're interested in taking the call. The system is expecting you are going to speak with the person before you put the transfer through. 

Blind transfer

The system will show the transfer recipient the original caller's information. It is as if the original caller called the transfer recipient directly. 

Older systems typically defaulted one way or the other and a handful of employees would know how to do either. 

Set Default Transfer Type in RingCentral

RingCentral's recent updates to many of their IP phones has made setting and changing your default transfer type easier than ever. 

If you have a Polycom VVX series device simply long press the Transfer Key while you're on a call (call your cell phone if you don't want to do it on a 'real' call). 

You can still use the key combinations to use the other option at anytime or simply long press the Transfer Key to change it.
