App of the Week: ProsperWorks CRM for Gmail

What's the best Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system?

That's an easy one! The best CRM is the one the team will actually use. There are two primary challenges when it comes to the adoption of a CRM system. Adoption and data quality. ProsperWorks does a fantastic job of addressing both these issues.

ProsperWorks lives right in Gmail! We already spend a ton of time working in Gmail so it's great to have CRM available right there as well. ProsperWorks also does a great job of entering quality data on our behalf, leveraging the person's signature to complete important contact information. The system will also suggest you add Contacts you've interacted with via Gmail - improving both adoption and data quality.

ProsperWorks was built specifically for people using Gmail, Google Contacts, Calendar and Drive. This integration makes implementation a breeze. Gone are the days when a CRM implementation costs thousands and thousands of dollars. You can have a default configuration running in minutes and a fully customized system running in an hour or two. ProsperWorks makes it easy to invite other team members from the Google Apps domain and the Google Apps Control Panel makes it easy to install the ProsperWorks Chrome Extension for the appropriate team members. (Create a Sub-Organization in the Google Apps Control Panel to control which employees automatically gain access to specific apps!)

What's in it for me?

Most employees know why management wants them to use a CRM system. But "what's in it for me" is often less clear. We found these features to be of instant value from the account manager's perspective.

  • All emails with a contact are automatically logged into the system and available from any device
  • Activity log includes 'last contact' date, 'inactive days', and total 'interactions' - super handy, especially when you're on the go
  • Great on the mobile devices!
  • ProsperWorks will automatically pull information from signatures and social profiles - reducing the need for boring data entry
  • I've used  a lot of CRM systems - few Pipelines are as easy to manage as ProsperWorks'

Is ProsperWorks right for your team?

Only one way to find out. Give it a test drive. Members of the Central US Google Apps User Group and Umzuzu clients could be entitled to special pricing, so please let us know if you want to check it out. If you want to run your use case by us before taking the time to test, that's cool too. ProsperWorks is relatively new and certainly isn't going to work well for everyone. We do think it's a sweet app that's easy to use and works great with Google Apps.
