Kansas City has been getting a lot of love from Google lately. Last week Google announced Kansas City would be home to their first build out of an experimental ultra high-speed broadband infrastructure for the entire Kansas City, Kansas community.
In addition to that great news, we are still working to remind customers, friends and family that Google recently made another exciting announcement with Kansas City roots. Google and Sprint announced Sprint would integrate Google Voice into their service and offer it, free of charge, to Sprint customers. Google Voice is part of the Google Apps suite of services and offers tons of great features. It works great on the other major carriers as well. If you're a Google Apps customer or Gmail user you can also combine Google Voice with Gmail calling to make and receive calls directly in Gmail. Chrome users can also take advantage of the Google Voice Extension for Chrome to receive voicemail recordings and transcripts, send and receive text messages for free and be immediately updated to missed calls and new messages.
You can read the announcement on the official Google Voice Blog. Sprint and Google have also released this overview video.
