One of the most exciting attributes of Cloud Computing is new features are delivered continuously. Late last year, the Google Docs team rolled out the ability to edit Google Docs and Spreadsheets directly from your Android or iOS device.
Today the Google Docs team is adding even more functionality for Android users with the Google Docs App on the Android Market.
Create, edit, upload and share your docs from your phone with the Google Docs app:
- Make quick changes to spreadsheets.
- View your documents, PDFs, images and more.
- Upload and convert files to the Google Docs format.
- Take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document.
- Share docs with your phone’s contacts.
- Designed for Android to save you time finding your docs.
The Google Docs App for Android offers some great features. Our personal favorite is the ability to quickly switch between accounts. This is a great feature for people who use the consumer version of Google Docs and the Business, Government, or Education Edition of Google Docs.
With this new app it’s easy to find content across any Google account. The app also allows you to easily share items with contacts on your phone.
Using the app and your phone’s camera, you can also turn photos of text documents into editable Google documents with optical character recognition (OCR). Just create a new ‘Document from Photo' or select the camera icon from the widget, and your converted document will appear in your documents list shortly after you snap the picture. You can also convert photos already stored on your phone by sharing them with the Google Docs app.
