"Cloud First, Cloud Fast: Recommendations for Innovation, Leadership and Job Creation"

TechAmerica Foundation’s Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD2) had a three-month mandate and recently released its report: Cloud First, Cloud Fast: Recommendations for Innovation, Leadership and Job Creation.

This report is a roadmap to help government agencies move more rapidly towards cloud computing.
The report focused on 4 key areas
  1. Trust
  2. Transformation
  3. Transparency
  4. Transnational Data Flows
The report works to address issues facing the implementation of modern web applications so the Commission also produced a “Buyer’s Guide” to help government agencies evaluate cloud offerings and move services to the cloud.

True to the theme of the report, Google Apps for Government recently had its 1 year anniversary and last month, the General Services Administration (GSA) completed the transition of its employees to Google’s cloud-based email and collaboration applications. In a powerful display of the rapid deployment opportunities presented by cloud computing it took just over six months to migrate more than 17,000 employees and contractors to the FISMA certified Google Apps for Government.
