Migrating from Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook to Google Apps

Umzuzu helps customers migrate to Google Apps from all types of systems including Lotus Notes and Groupwise but a majority of our clients migrate from Microsoft® Exchange Server and Microsoft® Outlook. The larger organizations typically have Exchange Server on-premises or running on dedicated hardware in a colocation data center facility. Most small and medium sized businesses are utilizing hosted Exchange from companies like Intermedia or LiveOffice.

Google Apps for Business, Google Apps for Government and Google Apps for Education offer many additional enterprise features and applications. One of these tools is Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GAMME) which is included with Google Apps for Business, Google Apps for Government and Google Apps for Education.

GAMME provides the ability to migrate email, contacts and calendar data from on-premises and hosted Microsoft® Exchange to Google Apps, whether you have just a few users or tens of thousands.

You can also migrate data from PST files and emails from IMAP servers (Novell® GroupWise®, Cyrus, Dovecot, Courier and Gmail) using this application.

Another great tool Umzuzu will often utilize as part of a Microsoft migration to Google Apps is Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GASMO). Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook® allows you to use Microsoft Outlook® 2003, 2007 and 2010 effectively with Google Apps. You get the cost savings, security and reliability of Google Apps, while employees can use the interface they prefer for email, contacts, calendar and notes.

Often two of the first questions we get from customers are "can we migrate our messages, calendars and contacts from Microsoft Exchange" and "what do I do if one of my users wants to keep using Outlook?"

Both questions have the same answer, "No problem!"
